Aloha Stiga Hawaii 2019
Kihei, Maui, HI -- The first annual Aloha Stiga Hawaii Table Hockey Tournament on Maui was a big success! Eighteen players officially took part. An additional three players slated to participate were unable to compete that day. However, over 40 other players were part-time, non-tournament participants. These 40+ players "got their feet wet" and caught the table hockey fever. Look for many of these players -- and lots more to participate next year!
From the Czech Republic, Roman Nezhyba won the first-ever Aloha Stiga Hawaii Table Hockey Championship with a 4-0 win over Kevin Rafferty in the Final (5-0, 6-2, 5-2, 2-1 OT).
From Grand Rapids, Michigan, up-and-coming 21 year-old Joe Kunst earned the 3rd Place Trophy over Kelly Rafferty from Chicago, Illinois.
Hawaiian Mark Claydon was the highest-finishing islander in 5th place.
The balance of the 18-player tournament field and the 40+ additional players are now the core of the newly-formed Maui Table Hockey Club. Several participants came over from the island of Oahu. Another experienced table hockey player from Oahu, Alex Teece, could not be at the inaugural tournament, but definitely plans to play in the future.
